RESEARCH
EXPLORATION OF DRONE VIBRATION & ISOLATION
Capstone Honours Thesis

My research project aimed to investigate the cause and effects of drone motion and vibrations that occur in large custom-built cinema drones- the drone under investigation was the drone that a local cinema company was using to shoot the latest 'Mad Max' movie.
Over the 9-month of research, I explored various vibration isolation techniques used within the aerospace and related industries to improve and advance the drone filing capabilities by avoiding unnecessary motion caused by the vibrations. It was an exciting endeavour of both practical application of theoretical knowledge and introducing the soft skills of negotiation and liaising- a skill not well rehearsed in a classroom. During the submission period, I felt confident in my ability to analyse large quantities of data and process it in a way that is useful to people who do not have a technical background and present it in a way that is both efficient and comprehensive.
